Barni Norton, director of this site has had a variety of careers true to the form of any Gemini.  Mother of three fabulous women, Roadhouse owner/manager in the Kimberleys 1980’s; Herb growing horticulturalist and creator of Serendipity Farm in Broome 1990’s; West Coast Rodeo Circuit entries officer 02 - 04; teacher of Tafe horticulture, herbs,  life coaching and, Tai Chi; Singing in a band, conducting the Sing Australia Bindoon choir and enthusing others to sing. In October 2009, Barni became a shire of Chittering councillor. With a Remedial Massage Therapist diploma. and a personal trainer certificate assisted healing is Barni’s current career which she combines with selling advertising to keep the Northern Valleys / Chittering Directory & website humming.

Serendiptous Directory’z was the first business name associated with the directory started in 2005 after encouragement from a friend that she was capable of manifesting the vision she had for a comprehensive business & community networking document. Serendipitous is how a lot of Barni’s life has been.

The business name, Chittering Directory, became a necessity as the Chittering Directory evolved itself as an entity that people know and seek out annually.

“What area constitutes the Northern Valleys?”. For the purpose of the directory the boundaries know no edges. Barni distributes the hard copy of the directory from Gull Gingers south of Bullsbrook, north to New Norcia, east of the Julimar forest and Calingiri, and west beyond Muchea, Gingin and Mogumber. It is the communities of people living within these areas Barni aims to network. She is often surprised to learn where the directory has surfaced. This is the directory doing its networking job.
